Very constant quality, have been going here for years and don’t go without eating a Kathiroll – they are just to die for. They also do delivery and takeaway.
WARUNG YOSHI
Gang Bima
Walk straight out of BYV and past Sienna Villas and this little warung is on the right – great local warung food at exceptional prices with a Japanese twist – run by a Japanese.
MANO BEACHSIDE CAFE
730 874, Petitenget Beach, Kerobokan.
Gorgeous setting right on beach (same area as La Lucciola but opposite end of the carpark) It is an aqua building that is hard to see until you are right there. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, very cheap and a quiet spot to watch the waves over a meal.
WARUNG KOPI STREET FOOD
Opposite Gg Keraton
*** A favorite
It looks dodgy but food is fabulous and cheap. A 10,000 will get you rice and a choice of several things with it. They roll it up in a cone and you can bring it home. We love to buy our lunch here.
PILI PILI

Excellent value. Has Indo food smorgasbord for lunch as well as ala carte and dinner has fresh grilled fish, etc., and the best pasta. Worth a visit.

SANG RIA
A few metres off Double Six, Jl Werkudara
Phone: 031 2150404
Walking distance from Bali Yarravillas. Now that Rio is closed we had to find good ribs and these guys have them. They offer reasonably priced food and plenty of choice in a beautiful garden setting and under cover seating as well. They run a really good establishment.

NIRVANA
Jl Laksmana opposite Khaima
You can’t miss the big purple sign. They have expanded and now have a restaurant and separate bar area. Owned by an Aussie Guy, food is fantastic, steak has very good quality but not dirt cheap. Happy hour is until 7:00 pm with cheap beers and frozen cocktails.
SEA CIRCUS

Nearby Pettitenget Temple. Serves great coffee, juices and their breakfast is one of the best. Tapas at night are also good.
THE BEACH HOUSE
on the surf at Echo Beach
Phone: 0361 738471
*** A favorite
This is a little way out north of Seminyak. You would need to go with a group as you would need to get a taxi or car and wait for you – but it is really worth going to. The place is very popular with surfies. They have a BBQ every night and you pick your fish, meat or veggie kebabs and it is all priced per portion, but you get the whole salad bar, bread, hot potatoes etc., inclusive of whatever you buy with the BBQ. A very good value!
ULTIMO
Jln Laksmana 104X
Phone: 0361 738729 – 21

You must go to this one. They have all sorts of food and they have it done out beautifully. It really looks a 6-star by night but at 2-star prices – but you must book this one. Once, I had to book 3 days in advance.
BIKU TEA HOUSE AND LOUNGE
Jalan Pettitenget 888, Kerobokan
Phone: 851-0057-0888
*** A favorite
Opens from 8:00 am until late breakfast, lunch and dinner. The special thing here is the High Tea. It is of fantastic value. Choose your flavour of tea, served in Royal Albert teapot and cups. Then, you are served the high tea on three tiered serving plates with ribbon sandwiches, smoked salmon, cucumber, beef and quiches. They also serve scones, jam and cream and then fresh baked cake biscuits etc. (The Asian version is also excellent) Very good value for the quality.
MANNEKEPIS
Jl Raya Seminyak No 2
Phone: 0361 8475784
This is a terrific Belgian restaurant within walking distance of Bali Yarravillas. Now owned by the Rio Bar and Grill team, so there are some favourites such as ‘Kill the Cook’, etc. The food is both Western and Belgian, and of great value for money. The Belgian beef stew is just so tasty. They have Jazz during Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They are open for lunch and dinner.
DAHANA JAPANESE
98X Jl Petitenget, Kerobokan
Phone: 0361 730131
*** A favorite
We think this is the best value for money for Japanese food in Bali. It is very secluded and not easy to spot in the night as it’s not lit up but next door to Gourmet Cafe. The setting is superb, once a home and now a restaurant and gallery. Tables and chairs are set around the swimming pool or you can eat at a tatami table in your own little room. The food is yummy! We go two or three times each visit. It costs around 20,000 Rp in Taxi from Bali Yarravillas.
MAMASAN
Jalan Raya Kerobokan 135
Phone: 0361 730436
* A favorite
Nestled between Jalan Raya Seminyak and Sunset Road, this is a sister restaurant of Sarong but they say more hawker style food but still sensational flavours. Mamasan is a little more casual than Sarong. They have a bar lounge upstairs and dining downstairs. You definitely need to book. Verging on expensive
BOW
Jl Batubelig
This restaurant is just past Rustica the Italian Place. They have fabulous space and lots of expats eat here. A great mixture of foods. Eat Cuban, tapas plates, fantastic corned beef while overlooking rice fields. It is a white building that can easily be missed.
[highlight]THERE ARE A LOT OF RESTAURANTS POPPING UP ALONG JALAN BATUGELIG WHICH ARE WORTH A TRY BUT DEFINITELY A TAXI RIDE PROBABLY 30-40,000 from BYV:MYTHOS BBQ is a yummy greek restaurant
WARUNG ETHNIC has good Indo food as well as international steaks, lamb, salmon etc. NAUGHTY NURIS is also along here
Expensive – But not in Australian terms
SARONG

A beautiful setting right on the beach. See the sunset while sipping cocktails. Just lovely! Also open for breakfast and lunch.

The food is just fabulous. The atmosphere is just as nice as before, attentive service without being over the top and exceptional quality of food. You can BYO for 200,000 per bottle.
KUDETA
On the beach in Seminyak Jln Oberoi
It is very expensive, as expensive as Australia, but this is where the hip crowd hang out. They have big parties on Friday and Saturday nights but it does get very crowded. The breakfast here isn’t too bad of value if you get the big breakfast.
SARDINE
Jalan Petitenget 21 (really on Batubelig Street)
Phone: 0361 738 202 Closed on Mondays
It has the most beautiful setting and the food is fantastic, mostly seafood of course with views from the dining area over endless rice paddies with gorgeous big terracotta pots lit up overlooking rice fields. Wine is expensive but the food and ambience is worth it.
METIS
Jl Petitenget No 6
Phone: 0361 4737888
The owners from old Warisan have opened this new restaurant. It is very expensive but very popular opposite Sardine. Has very nice atmosphere and food is fantastic.
SIP WINE BAR AND RESTAURANT
Jl Raya Seminyak nearly opposite Bintang Supermarket
French and very nice food, a bit upmarket but worth it. Short walk from Bali Yarravillas.
POTATO HEAD BEACH CLUB
Jalan Petitenget
Entrance on the beach. Worth a look. Quite expensive but the building is amazing. Worth to go to have at least a drink or lunch.
COCOON
Double Six on the Beach
Phone: 0361 731266
A very beautiful place. The food is very good and the atmosphere is great as well
Shopping
BINTANG
Supermarket is on Jln Raya Seminyak just before Cafe Moka and it has most things ( Baliyarravillas is in gang keraton just beside this supermarket )
BALI DELI
This is in Kunti street (past Bintang supermarket on the right) and it’s a fair walk down this street on the left. They have a great selection of cheeses, small goods, cakes and breads, fruit and veggies. Very clean.
CARREFOURS
This is on jln Sunset in Kuta. It is a big French hypermart I guess, has a huge supermarket that sells everything from TVs to fish and Aussie lamb. Their bakery is also very good, always do a big shop here.
Booze is very expensive in Bali so try and take what you can get away with. I usually put a bottle of wine in my suitcase and then take duty free bottle in carry on. There is a little bottleshop near bemo corner which is the most reasonable one to buy a bottle of wine. Wine in restaurants is very expensive. The local Gin which is sold in this bottleshop is very good and very reasonably priced.
READING GLASSES
Phone: 081 74714740
Email: honeyman.optic@yahoo.com
Mr Honey Man (always sitting outside Bintang supermarket, just ask). It has all equipment to test eyes and is accurate. We have checked it out. They have a great range of frames and takes just a few days to get them back to you. Takes orders to Denpasar and gets them made up.
MONEY CHANGER
It’s a good idea to always change your money at the BMC money changer in Jln Raya Seminyak, turn right out of Gang Keraton and Bintang is on your right, over the road on the left and up past SIP restaurant is BMC, they always count the money correctly. Believe us when we say if you think you get a higher return somewhere else they will rip you for sure!
DRIVERS
